Kids Pottery Wheel Experience
I’ve never had my hands this messy before!
This experience class will let the kids learn something about clay and wheel throwing without pressure. It’s about having fun and getting an experience.
Duration is up to 45 minutes depending on age, ability and patience. Price is $50 plus tax for one child, $80 plus tax for two children. The classes are Saturday only and starts at 1 pm or 2 pm. Please use the calendar below to sign up and submit payment.
An instructor will guide the children through the process of creating a small bowl. Once the child has created a project that can be baked, we’ll collect the project and give the child a second ball of clay to work with. The child can then freely experience the clay and have fun with it for the rest of the class. The instructor will be present and help if needed.
The bowl will be ready to paint or pick up after two weeks. Painting is optional, you can take the items home and enjoy them as they are. There is an additional charge of $15 for painting the bowl in the studio.
The class starts on time, so you must be a few minutes early to get set up. We provide aprons so you don’t need to bring anything.
Six wheels are available so up to six kids can participate in this single-session class. A booking is for one or two children, so please make more than one booking if necessary.
More than seven full days remain before class time: The payment can be refunded if the booking was not previously rescheduled. That means you cannot reschedule and then cancel. Only one reschedule is permitted per booking, payment is lost if you can't attend the rescheduled class
More than three full days remain before class time: The payment can be fully converted to store credit valid for another pottery wheel class within 30 days from the date of the class.
Less than three full days remain before class time: Half of the payment can be converted to store credit valid for another pottery wheel class within 30 days from the date of the class, the other half is lost.
That means you'll have to pay half the amount to book another class. The store credit MUST be applied to another pottery class within 30 days from the date of the class.
Store credit not used for another class within that time is lost
Two 300 g balls of clay, each is enough for a small bowl. Up to 45 minutes at the wheel. Use of tools if desired. An apron is provided to protect the clothes but clay washes right out.
This is an experience, and there’s no expectation that the child makes something. If a bowl or similar is made, it is baked at no charge. It can be painted for $15 plus tax after baking.
For the Kids Experience Classes we prefer no adults at the wheels, unless your kids are the only ones in the class. If they are the only ones you can have a wheel yourself and participate at the normal charge. Otherwise, you can stay in the studio and observe.
We have the option to set up a special class of minimum 4 participants for a family or work group. For a special class we welcome both children and adults. Please call for details.
Sorry, it’s not possible for us to store work-in-progress in the studio. If your project is not finished, we’ll wrap it up in a box and you take it home where you can finish it before bringing it back for firing.
A clay project dries over the course of a day or so under cover, and if left too long it becomes too dry to work on, so it’s best to take it home to do detail carving etc.
We call as as soon as they’re ready for painting. We have limited storage space so once they’re baked the items must be picked up or painted within 30 days.
We do not guarantee they’ll be kept for more than one month. Unfortunately we do not compensate if the items were disposed.
We’ll call once again after 30 days before the items are disposed, so please make sure you check your phone messages.
