Family Pottery Wheel Experience
I’ve never had my hands this messy before!
This guided experience workshop led by an instructor will let the kids and their adults learn something about clay and wheel throwing without pressure. Two balls of clay are provided per person, one is used for making a small bowl with the help of the instructor, the other is for playtime. It’s about having fun and getting an experience.
The instructor led workshop is Saturday only and starts at 1 pm or 2 pm and duration is up to 45 minutes depending on age, ability and patience.
Price is $50.00 plus tax for one person, $40.00 plus tax for two.
The bowl can be painted after one to two weeks for an additional $20.00 charge
An instructor will guide the participants through the process of creating a small bowl. The instructions are simplified from the adult workshops and doesn’t cover things like centering or cylinder pulling.
Making the bowl usually takes about 20 minutes. Once the participant has created a small bowl, we collect it and the participant gets a second ball of clay to freely experience and have fun with for the rest of the workshop. The instructor will be present and help if needed but the second ball is meant as playtime.
The bowl will be ready to paint or pick up after two weeks. Painting is optional, you can take the items home and enjoy them as they are. There is an additional charge of $20.00 for painting the bowl in the studio.
The workshop starts on time, so you must be a few minutes early to get set up. We provide aprons so you don’t need to bring anything.
Eight wheels are available so up to eight kids can participate in this single-session workshop.
More than seven full days remain before the workshop: The payment can be refunded minus a $10 fee if the booking was not previously rescheduled. That means you cannot reschedule and then cancel. Only one reschedule is permitted per booking, payment is lost if you can't attend the rescheduled workshop
More than three full days remain before the workshop: The payment can be fully converted to store credit valid for another pottery wheel workshop within 30 days from the date of the workshop.
Less than three full days remain before the workshop: Half of the payment can be converted to store credit valid for another pottery wheel workshop within 30 days from the date of the workshop, the other half is lost.
That means you'll have to pay half the amount to book another workshop. The store credit MUST be applied to another pottery workshop within 30 days from the date of the workshop.
Store credit not used for another workshop within that time is lost
Two 300 g balls of clay, each is enough for a small bowl. Up to 45 minutes at the wheel. Use of tools if desired. An apron is provided to protect the clothes but clay washes right out.
This is an experience, and there’s no expectation that the child makes something. If a bowl or similar is made, it is baked at no charge. It can be painted for $20.00 plus tax after baking.
Yes, kids and their adults can join the class. All participants have to be paid for, and each participant gets their own wheel.
During the guided part of the class, the instructor is in charge and we prefer the adults not work with the kids, leave it to the instructor.
We have the option to set up a special class of minimum 4 participants for a family or work group. For a special class we welcome both children and adults. Please call for details.
We always call you as soon as the items are ready for pickup or painting. If we don't reach you, we'll attempt to leave a message so make sure to check your messages.
Many people never pick up from unknown numbers, or even block them, the call will come from 905 477 0002.
If it's been more than two weeks and you've not heard from us, give us a call, perhaps the number we have for you is wrong.
We have limited storage space so once we've baked the items and called you we guarantee they'll be kept for at least 30 days. If you need more time let us know and we can store them for longer.
We will call and attempt to reach you at least twice before the items are disposed.
Unfortunately we do not compensate if the items were disposed.
Sorry, it’s not possible for us to store work-in-progress in the studio. If your project is not finished, we’ll wrap it up in a box and you take it home where you can finish it before bringing it back for firing.
A clay project dries over the course of a day or so under cover, and if left too long it becomes too dry to work on, so it’s best to take it home to do detail carving etc.
