Teens Wheel Throwing Intensive Camp – July 2026

In this 5-day camp, teens will take a deep dive into the world of ceramics and wheel throwing. We’ll learn through hands on lessons, starting with the fundamentals of centering, opening, pulling and shaping with different skill-building lessons and challenges each day. In the final two days of camp, the participants will create finished pieces to be fired in our kiln.
No experience needed, but this class is limited to ages 10 and upwards as real wheel throwing requires some upper body strength and ability to work with the hands. The other summer camps also do wheel throwing but in a more child friendly way.
Each day will have 90 minutes of wheel throwing, 30 minutes snack break and 90 minutes with a different creative activity, including clay handbuilding, glow in the dark, slime making and more.
Monday: Wheel throwing fundamentals: centering, opening, pulling and shaping
Tuesday: Wheel throwing fundamentals
Wednesday: Wheel throwing: cylinders and more
Thursday & Friday: Wheel throwing: cylinders and more. Independent projects with help from staff
Campers can choose up to three projects to be fired in our kiln. Items will be ready for painting 1 week after the camp. Painting of one item is included for free, painting additional items $20 per item.
