This 45 minute experience class will let the kids learn something about clay and wheel throwing without pressure. It’s about having fun and getting an experience.

An instructor will guide the kids through the process of creating a small bowl and if it can be baked it’ll be ready to paint about two weeks later for an additional charge.

The class starts on time, so you must be a few minutes early to get set up. We provide aprons so you don’t need to bring anything.

Six wheels are available so up to six kids can participate in this single-session class. A booking secures one spot and cost $45 including tax. A $15 plus tax charge applies to paint the item.

Please see the bottom of page for questions and answers and use the calendar below to select time and date for your class.

How to pay

Payment is due immediately after registering with Interac eTransfer to “etransfer@craftypots.studio”.

You’ll also receive an email with payment instructions. Double check the email address you provide. If you don’t get an email, look in the spam folder. The booking will be cancelled without further notice if not paid within a short time.

Cancellation policy

The payment is not refundable, but if cancelled or rescheduled with more than 48 hours notice before the class it can be fully converted to store credit valid for another pottery wheel class that must be within ONE month from the date of contact.

If cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours notice before the class only half of the payment can be converted to store credit, the other half is lost. That means you will have to pay half the amount to book another class. The store credit MUST be applied to another pottery class within ONE MONTH from the date of contact. If not used for another class within that time, the store credit is lost.

What’s included in the class?

One 300 g ball of clay, enough for a small bowl. Up to 45 minutes at the wheel. Use of tools if desired. An apron is provided to protect the clothes but clay washes right out.

This is an experience, and there’s no expectation that the child makes something. If a bowl or similar is made, it is baked at no charge. It can be painted for $15 plus tax after baking.

Can adults join the class?

For the Kids Experience Classes we prefer no adults at the wheels, unless your kids are the only ones in the class. If they are the only ones you can have a wheel yourself and participate at the normal charge. Otherwise, you can stay in the studio and observe.

We also have the option to book a group of up to 12 kids for a wheel throwing party on Saturday or Sunday morning.

Can I store unfinished clay projects in the studio?

Sorry, it’s not possible for us to store work-in-progress in the studio. If your project is not finished, we’ll wrap it up in a box and you take it home where you can finish it before bringing it back for firing.

A clay project dries over the course of a day or so under cover, and if left too long it becomes too dry to work on, so it’s best to take it home to do detail carving etc.

How long do I have to pick up the items?

We call as as soon as they’re ready for painting. We have limited storage space so once they’re baked the items must be picked up or painted within 30 days.

We do not guarantee they’ll be kept for more than one month. Unfortunately we do not compensate if the items were disposed.

We’ll call once again after 30 days before the items are disposed, so please make sure you check your phone messages.
